There has been some movement in Germany's Higher Education. Until a few years ago it was characterised by universities and universities of applied science which were predominantly financed by the individual states. In the meantime federal and state legislation has made room for numerous private initiatives, which today have become a vital element in the reform of tertiary education. By far not all of the 3800
Bachelor and Master programmes have achieved this quality seal.
With respect to structure of the programmes and their degrees, the private universities from the beginning as a rule chose the route which the European Ministers of Education had deisgnate in Bologna in 1999. The Bologna Process provides for the pan-European introduction of
Bachelor (B. A.) and Master (M. A.) degrees. An essential factor in the quality assurance of such academic programmes is warranted by the accreditation agencies which have been established for specifically that purpose.
accadis Hochschule Bad Homburg chose to enter into this stringent process of approval and in April of 2004 received its accreditation for the
Bachelor programme in International Business Administration by FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation), Bonn. The accreditation for the M. A. and MBA programmes ensued in August 2005. In that manner we have implemented "Bologna" in Bad Homburg. A European structure in both academic programmes and degrees - backed by all advantages of international mobility and acceptance.
State recognition of private universities - this also guarantees the concept and quality of the degree programmes - is bestowed by the individual federal states. Hochschule Bad Homburg was granted this in October 2004 by the Hessian Ministry of Higher Education, Research and the Arts.
With these accreditations and recognitions in hand accadis started its new programmes and now has a good number of both B. A. and MBA students under its roof. The new Hochschule can draw on over 14 years of experience with its School of International Business and tried-and-tested relationships with universities in Europe, the USA and South Africa. In addition accadis can build on its strong and long-lived partnerships in industry and commerce.
